What stays on your device

Everything you create in the app: the cards in your binder, what you paid, your want list, your price watches, your notification choices, and the value history the app records over time. This lives in the app's own storage on your phone. Deleting the app deletes it.

When you scan a card, the app also keeps a rectified photo of it on your device, capped at your newest 40 captures so the library can't grow without bound. These photos are never uploaded anywhere; the card-matching step that reads them runs entirely on the phone.

Because it is only on your phone, we cannot restore it for you if you lose the device or delete the app. Backup is not implemented in this version.

Card images and card data

Card artwork and card details are fetched from TCGdex as you browse. Like any request to any website, TCGdex receives your IP address and can see which card images were requested. We do not send them your collection, and the requests carry no identifier from us.

Hound, the AI companion

Hound has been live since 18 August 2026. Until that date its answers were pre-written examples; they now come from a real model. This is exactly what happens when you send it a message, and nothing more: the message you type, any photo you attach to it, the last few messages of that conversation, and the specific card rows relevant to your question are sent to our server and forwarded to Anthropic to generate the reply. Your whole collection is not sent, no account is created, and we do not store the conversation on our servers.

Two things are counted so the daily message allowance can be enforced: a random id the app generates for your install, and the IP address the request arrives from. Neither is a login and neither is joined to anything else — they are a running count for the day, which resets at midnight UTC. The app ships no password, no email address and no profile.

What we never collect

• No name, email address or phone number — there is nothing to sign up for.
• No advertising identifiers, no ad networks, no cross-app tracking.
• No analytics or crash-reporting SDK is present in this build.
• No location, contacts, photos library, or microphone access is requested.

Camera

The app requests camera access to identify the card in front of it — asked for in context, the moment you first tap Scan, never on launch. Recognition runs entirely on your phone against an index of card images bundled with the app: nothing the camera sees while you are scanning is uploaded, and no video ever leaves the device.

The one exception, and it is yours to make: if you deliberately attach a photo to a message to Hound, that photo is sent with the message, exactly as described above. Nothing attaches a photo on your behalf.

Children

Holohound is a collection tracker for a hobby many children take part in. It collects no personal information from anyone, of any age, and has no social features, no chat with strangers, and no user-generated content. Hound is an AI, not a person and not another user; what a message to it sends is listed in full above, and none of it is stored.

Your choices

You can export your collection to a CSV file from the Profile screen at any time, without a subscription. To erase everything Holohound holds about you, delete the app.

Changes

If what the app does changes, this page changes on the same day. The date at the top is the honest one.
