Quick help

My penguin is gone

Your penguin is saved in the browser you played in. If you signed in with Google, it's also attached to that sign-in — sign in again on any device and your penguin comes back. If you never signed in and cleared your browsing data, used a private window, or switched to a different device or browser, you'll get a new penguin, and unfortunately an unsigned-in penguin can't be recovered because nothing is attached to it. Signing in is optional, but it's the way to protect a penguin you care about.

The island is empty

You'll only see the players who are in the same area as you at that moment. Try the Town Square, which is where most penguins end up. If you can see your own penguin but nobody else ever appears, refresh the page — the connection may have dropped.

Someone is bothering me

Tap their penguin and use mute or block — both work immediately, and blocking hides them from you entirely. You can also report them. Please don't reply, and never share personal details with anyone in the game.

My score isn't on the leaderboard

Shared leaderboards are live for fifteen of the seventeen games; the exceptions are Lazy Floe, which has no score to beat, and Bonkberg, whose shared board isn't switched on yet. A score is only posted when you beat your own personal best, so an ordinary run won't appear, and if a board looks empty it usually is — most are new. Teens and adults appear under the display name they chose, which everyone on that board can see. Players in the under-13 band appear under a penguin name the game generates instead, so a child's row will not match the name over their penguin — that is deliberate, and the score still counts. If a score you're sure about never appears, email us and say which game.

Is there an app?

A mobile app is on the way. For now Waddleton runs in your phone or tablet browser, and "Add to Home Screen" gives you an icon that opens it full-screen like an app.

Found a bug?

Email support@hypersage.ai with what happened, which area or game you were in, and what device and browser you were using. Screenshots are extremely helpful.

Refunds and purchases

Waddleton is free to play and has no ads, and the browser version has no purchases at all. When the mobile app ships, it will have optional, purely decorative purchases — Goldfish, a premium currency, and the Waddleton Club subscription. Nothing you'll be able to buy makes a penguin better at a mini-game or moves you up a leaderboard.

Payments and refunds will be handled by the store you buy from — Apple's Report a Problem page or Google Play's order history — not by us; we'll never take the payment ourselves. Purchases will restore from the store automatically, and a subscription will cancel in your App Store or Google Play account settings, which stops the next payment rather than refunding the period you're in.

For parents

Waddleton asks one thing of everybody before they play: the month and year you were born, so it knows which age band to use. Those two numbers aren't stored; the band is, and the privacy policy sets out exactly where it goes. Beyond that it never asks a child for a name, email, or address — a guest penguin needs nothing at all, and signing in is optional. When the mobile app ships it will have optional purchases for decorative items; they'll go through the App Store or Google Play, so your existing controls — Ask to Buy, Family Sharing, and password prompts — will apply, and we'd encourage turning them on.

It is a live multiplayer game, so your child can see and be seen by other players. In the under-13 band the game gives no name field at all — the penguin's name comes from a list the game generates — and a score posted to a shared board goes up under a generated name, not one your child picked. Those players cannot type in chat either: they use the list of safe pre-written phrases, and free text other players type never reaches their screen. Mute and block work instantly, for everyone. Reports are recorded, but there's no full-time moderation team reading them in real time — so mute and block are the tools to rely on. Full detail is in the privacy policy, and we're happy to answer questions directly.

For press & creators

Videos, streams, and screenshots of your own play are welcome and don't need permission. If you'd like art assets or want to talk about the game, email support@hypersage.ai.
