Coming to iOS

The notes companion that asks before it acts.

Write, ramble, record. Loam fixes your slips in place, turns loose jots into clean lines, and files and flags what matters. It tells you what changed, with undo and redo in the Ledger where supported.

Loam runs on Claude, by Anthropic, and reads only what you allow.

Loam, a plush hedgehog companion holding a pencil
  1. You write

Type it, say it, or sketch it, as much as you like.

  2. Loam proposes

Tidies, filings, links, and flags arrive as previews. Approve them, or set Loam to act on its own.

  3. The Ledger keeps it

Changes recorded and attributed, with reversal controls where supported.

How it works

You hold the dials. All six of them.

Tidy, Organize, Annotate, Connect, Alert, and Act — each set to Off, Ask first, or Auto. The companion does exactly as much as you've dialed in, and not one thing more.

  1. Write anything

A rambly jot, a checklist, a voice note, a sketch. Loam's paper takes it all, and the pile stays yours to search, pin, and file into collections.

  2. Let the companion tend it

Loam suggests tidies, filings, links between related notes, and flags on the commitments it spots. Each one waits for you on the review desk, unless you've set that power to Auto.

  3. Review and reverse supported changes

Supported Ledger rows offer Undo or Redo. Undoing an old tidy preserves a newer filing. Later edits can retire an action; captures and reminders cannot be redone after undo, and deleted notes stay deleted.

The Tidy contract

Slips fixed. Voice untouched. Never rephrased.

“call w/with tom — he can start demo on the 14th if we confrimconfirm by fri, cabinets are 3wk lead time…”
Call with tom. …if we confirm by Friday. 3-week lead time
The ramble becomes clean lines, with “confrim” and “w/” mended in place. The original stays one tap away.
Features

Proactive, on your terms.

Some AI notes apps rewrite your words behind your back. Others barely lift a finger. Loam pitches in, and you decide how much.

Tidy, under contract

Typos, shorthand, and stray spaces fixed in place. Rambly jots shaped into clean lines. Nothing is rephrased, and “View original” sits right on the tidied note.

The Ledger

Loam's changes and your own pins, ticks, and filings, all time-stamped. Supported rows offer Undo or Redo, including eligible daily batches. Later edits can retire an action. Your history is never trimmed.

Six powers, three positions

File notes into collections. Leave margin marks that never touch your text. Link related notes. Flag commitments. Set reminders from what you wrote. Each power has its own dial: Off, Ask first, or Auto.

Ask your own pile

“What did I promise Tom?” Loam answers from your notes and shows its receipts. Tap one to open the exact note it read. Ask it to draft a note, and you decide whether it stays.

No limit on capture

Type, dictate, sketch, and save chat drafts without touching the daily allowance. It counts companion actions; chat answers do not consume this allowance.

You hold the door

The companion wakes only when you say yes, and goes back to sleep when you ask. Say no, and Loam is still a fast, private notes app. Copy all your notes out as Markdown, anytime.

The app

Warm paper. Quiet ink.

Serif headings, cream pages, and a companion who writes in sienna pencil.

What Loam isn't

Three things it will never be.

Start with the plainest one: Loam is an AI companion, not a person, and it can't feel emotions. It runs on Claude, by Anthropic. Everything below follows from that.

Not a ghostwriter

Tidy handles spelling, shorthand, and shape, then stops. Your written paragraphs stay yours, line for line.

Not a silent organizer

Every filing, link, and flag goes on the record, with reversal controls where supported. Even on Auto, Loam asks before it starts a new collection.

Not a data business

No accounts, no ads, no analytics. Your notes live on your device and leave it only while the companion is working for you. The privacy policy has the details.

FAQ

Fair questions.

When can I get it?

Loam is coming to the App Store for iPhone. Email us and we'll tell you the moment it's live.

Which AI does Loam use?

Claude, by Anthropic. Loam is an AI companion, not a person, and it can't feel emotions. It stays asleep until you say yes. After that, asking it to look deeper at a note sends that note. From the companion's own screen, it sends your three most recently edited notes instead. A little context goes along too, like your collection names. The privacy policy covers the rest, including what a chat question sends.

What happens when I delete a note?

Deleted means deleted. There is no trash can and no thirty-day purgatory: the note is gone, its Ledger entries are redacted, and its traces are scrubbed from chat history. Loam makes you confirm precisely because there's no net.

Is my writing used to train AI?

No. Loam doesn’t train models on your notes, and Anthropic’s API terms exclude them from training by default. The privacy policy explains the exceptions.

What does the daily allowance cover?

Five companion actions a day. Notes, capture, search, history and supported undo and redo are not metered. Chat answers do not consume this action allowance.

Can I get my notes out?

Anytime. In Powers, Back up all notes saves a file with your notes, sketches and collections (chats and reminders stay on your device), and Copy all notes as Markdown puts your whole pile on the clipboard. Any single note can also be shared as text from its own menu.
