How it works

A page. A choice.
A new page.

Not an audiobook. Not a chatbot. A tale that bends to every move you make, written in the voice of the world you stepped into.

  1. Pick a tale

Eighty bundled classics — Dracula, Sherlock, Beowulf, the Odyssey — each with a hand-curated AI scenario. Plus myth, folklore, history, stage, and epic-poetry worlds. Or invent your own.

  2. Read what the AI writes

Streaming prose arrives a sentence at a time, in the voice of the world you stepped into — beneath a painted cover conjured for your story.

  3. Choose what happens next

Pick from three offered branches, or type whatever you want. The story adapts.

Alice in Wonderland book detail in dark mode — painted cover, Fantasy tag, chapters, and first-pages preview

Three offered branches — or a move you type. The branch you pick becomes the next page, and your choices carry forward.

The headline act

AI Adventure. Your move.

Every turn, the AI writes the next page in the voice of the world you're in — then hands you the pen. Pick a branch or type anything at all, and it remembers: your choices carry forward turn after turn, so a single run can unfold for hours and never repeat itself. Here's one turn.

A live AI Adventure turn — The Prismshard Heist, Chapter 1: a scene painting for the turn, the story written in a vivid heist-noir voice, and a 'Type a custom move' box
The Prismshard Heist · Chapter 1 · Approach

Three bells past midnight, and Halen breathes the kind of quiet that belongs only to cats and thieves. The mist sits low on the canal, smelling of brine and old rope, and the cold of the tiles seeps through your boots like a slow debt.

1 Cross by the bridge and go in at ground level
2 Signal Mora to test the wards with a prayer before moving
3 Send Pell to shadow the errant sentry first
Or type your own — "What if I refused the invitation?"

The turn shown on the phone, set in readable type — a live run of the real Prismshard Heist scenario. With Pro, turns are illustrated with a scene the app paints for them — up to 10 a day; every branch is written fresh, so no two runs are the same.

What's inside

Every classic. Every choice.

A literary engine, a quiet reader, a trophy gallery — built like a chef's knife, not a Swiss army.

Live a classic

Eighty public-domain books pre-loaded — Dracula, Pride & Prejudice, Sherlock Holmes, Treasure Island, the Odyssey, and 75 more. Each has its own AI Adventure scenario calibrated to the source's voice.

Or a world only you know

Sketch a premise — title, genre, characters, a plot seed. The AI weaves a branching tale around it, keeping continuity across every turn.

Painted, not printed

Every book and adventure gets a painted cover in a Victorian-engraving-meets-illuminated-manuscript style — 80 painted classics, plus a fresh cover conjured for each story you start. In AI Adventure, Pro paints a fresh scene for the moment — up to 10 turns a day, 100 a month.

A reader, too

Saved books open into a clean, themable reader — adjustable size, serif or sans, brand/sepia/dark themes, chapter narration that reads aloud, and navigation that remembers where you left off.

Earn the trophies

Achievements for completing books, finishing scenarios, writing your own moves, and reading across genres. Stats track your library, finished reads, and turns played.

Yours alone

Saved adventures and reading progress live on your device. No account needed to read or play — signing in is only for publishing to Tales — and no telemetry tied to your name. The AI never trains on your stories.

A look inside

Crafted, top to bottom.

A literary luxury aesthetic, hand-built one screen at a time.

Common questions

FAQ

Everything reviewers, readers, and parents ask us.

Is the AI just rewriting the original book?

No — the AI uses the book's world and voice as the setting, but every adventure is its own continuity. You're not reading Dracula. You're at Castle Dracula, making choices Jonathan Harker never had.

What if the AI says something off?

It happens. Tap "Try again" on any turn to regenerate, or type a different choice to steer the story. The system prompt is tuned to keep prose in-period and on-tone, but AI is AI.

Does the AI train on my stories?

No. Your input is sent to our backend for the duration of the request, forwarded to Anthropic's Claude to write the next page (with OpenAI as a failover), and to OpenAI for scene art and voice narration. It isn't stored on either end, and we don't sell or share your input.

Can I read offline?

The 80 bundled books are fully offline-readable. AI Adventure requires a network connection — every turn is generated live by the model.

What happens if I cancel Pro?

You keep access through the end of the current period. Your saved adventures and your library stay — they're on your device, and all 80 classics stay free to read. The 10 free AI Adventure turns are a one-time welcome for new readers, so if you have already used them, new AI turns need an active subscription.

How is this different from AI Dungeon?

StoryVault is built around literature — period-correct prose, hand-tuned scenarios, a real reader for the source books. The AI keeps you in the source's voice instead of letting the story drift into generic fantasy.

Which devices does it run on?

iPhone first. iPad and Mac are on the roadmap; Android is not committed.

I'm a teacher / parent / reviewer — how do I evaluate it?

StoryVault AI is rated 13+ on the App Store — the community Tales feed sets that floor. The bundled library is public-domain literature, and the AI Adventure system prompt explicitly excludes explicit sexual content and any content that sexualizes minors.
