The health companion that knows your story.
Living with a chronic condition means retelling your history at every appointment. Rowan listens to how your day actually went, keeps the record for you, and hands you a brief when it's time to see your doctor.
Rowan is an AI companion — not a doctor, nurse, or licensed clinician, and not a medical device. It doesn't diagnose or treat.
-
A conversation
Say how the day went, in ordinary words.
-
A structured record
A typed entry — symptom, severity, and the factor you named.
-
A visit brief
Your last thirty days, your medication list, and the questions worth asking.
You talk. Rowan keeps the record.
No forms to fill in, no scales to rate, no fields to remember. Say how the day went in ordinary words and Rowan turns it into a structured entry you can look back on — and hand over.
-
Tell Rowan what you live with
Add the conditions you already have a diagnosis for, plus your medications and allergies. You can mark something as suspected rather than diagnosed, and change it whenever.
-
Talk about your day in plain words
"Knee was rough after the long drive, maybe a 7." Rowan logs it as a typed entry — symptom, severity, and the factor you named — instead of letting it scroll away in a chat.
-
Walk into your appointment prepared
Rowan assembles a visit brief: what your last thirty days of entries add up to, your medication list as you entered it, and the questions worth asking. Your care team treats you — Rowan just makes sure nothing gets forgotten.
Built for the long middle of an illness.
Not the dramatic diagnosis moment — the years afterward, where the details blur and the appointments are fifteen minutes long.
Conversational logging
Describe a day the way you'd describe it to a friend. Rowan turns it into a typed symptom entry with severity and context — no forms, no sliders.
The visit brief
The page you hand your doctor: what your last thirty days of entries add up to, your medication list, and the questions worth asking — assembled from what you actually logged.
Trends you can raise
Streaks, sparklines, and patterns Rowan noticed across weeks. Always framed the honest way: a pattern, not a diagnosis — worth raising at your next appointment.
Medication reminders
Reminders you set, on your schedule, with a tap to mark a dose taken. Rowan tracks what you told it — it never tells you to start, stop, or change a dose.
A safety layer that isn't optional
Two checks, and neither can be switched off. Your phone screens every message the moment you send it against a short list of medical emergencies, and stops the conversation right there if it matches — no waiting for the network. Everything else is read by an independent check on our server before Rowan answers. Those turns are never metered or paywalled.
You can see what it knows
A plain list of everything Rowan remembers about you, with a remove on every item and a clear-everything underneath — plus an export and a delete that both reach the server too.
Warm, and quiet about it.
No white coats, no clinical charts, no red alarm states. Rowan is designed to be opened on a bad day.

Fifteen minutes is not long enough to remember a month.
The appointment is short, and the burden of recall is entirely on you — on a day when you may not be at your best. The visit brief exists so you don't walk out remembering the thing you meant to say.
- What changed — how often each symptom came up and how rough it was, counted from your own entries, not a questionnaire.
- Your medication list — exactly as you entered it, with your own notes. Listed, never assessed.
- Questions to ask — phrased so they're easy to say out loud.
- Yours to share — export it, or just hold up your phone.
In an emergency, don't type — call 911.
Rowan is not an emergency service and never delays care. Your phone screens every message the moment you send it for signs of a medical emergency, and halts the conversation there if it finds one; everything else is read by an independent check on our server before Rowan answers. Either way, when something looks urgent Rowan points you to emergency care instead of continuing — but neither check is a substitute for calling for help. Those turns are never metered and never paywalled. Never delay care because of something in this app.
What Rowan is — and what it isn't.
A health app that overstates itself is dangerous. So here is the line, drawn plainly, in the same words the app uses.
Rowan does
- Help you organize, track, and understand your health information
- Turn everyday sentences into a structured symptom record
- Talk it through with you — ask what changed this month, what you logged, or what's worth raising
- Show you patterns over time, and help you describe them
- Prepare better questions for your doctor
- Remind you about medications you entered, on the schedule you set
- Point you toward care — and toward emergency help when it matters
Rowan does not
- Diagnose you, or guess what your symptoms mean
- Tell you to start, stop, change, or skip any medication or dose
- Interpret labs or vitals, or call any result "abnormal"
- Treat, cure, or prevent anything — and it isn't a medical device
- Replace your doctor, nurse, pharmacist, or therapist
- Provide therapy or counseling, or treat low mood as something to fix
- Pretend to be a clinician, or hide that it's an AI
No account. No ads. No trackers.
Health data is the most sensitive data there is, so here is what happens to it — including the parts that leave your phone. The full picture, third parties included, is in the privacy policy.
- There is no sign-up. No name, no email, no password — your install is identified by a random device ID.
- No ad or analytics SDKs touch your health content, and we never sell or share it.
- Your messages do go to an AI provider to generate replies — Anthropic, or OpenAI when Anthropic is unavailable, which receives the same message and health context. The independent safety check fails over the same way, sending the recent transcript to OpenAI on its own. Your log is stored on our server so it survives between sessions. We won't pretend otherwise.
- Delete means delete. One tap erases what Rowan keeps on your phone, and asks our server to purge your conversations, symptom logs, safety events and usage counters in a single transaction — with a per-table receipt of what actually went.

FAQ
Can Rowan tell me what's wrong with me?
No, and it's built not to. Rowan doesn't diagnose, doesn't offer a differential, and won't guess at what your symptoms mean. It's for people who already have a diagnosis and are living with it — organizing what happens day to day so your care team has better information to work with.
Is Rowan a medical device?
No. Rowan is a general-wellness app that helps you organize, track, and understand your own health information. It doesn't diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition, and it isn't a substitute for professional care. Always check with a qualified healthcare professional before making medical decisions.
Will it tell me to change my medication?
Never. Rowan gives no dosage guidance of any kind — it will not tell you to start, stop, change, or skip anything. It tracks the medications you entered and reminds you on the schedule you set. If something seems worth raising, it will say it's worth discussing with your doctor or pharmacist, and help you describe it.
Am I talking to a real person?
No. Rowan is an AI companion, and it says so — there's a persistent indicator in the chat reading "AI companion · not a clinician," Rowan says what it is at the start of a conversation, and it answers plainly every time you ask. It has no credentials and doesn't play a doctor.
Where does my data actually go?
Your messages, and a profile summary of your conditions, medications, allergies, and recent symptoms, are sent to our backend and on to an AI provider so Rowan can reply. We use Anthropic (Claude) as the primary provider, with OpenAI as failover. Failover is on by default and automatic: if Anthropic is unavailable, the same message and the same profile payload go to OpenAI instead, so OpenAI can receive your health context on any turn. OpenAI can be reached by a second route as well — the independent safety check runs on its own separate model, and it has its own failover, which sends the recent transcript to OpenAI. Under both providers' commercial API terms as they stand today, your content is not used to train their models. Those are their terms rather than ours, and we will update this page if they change. Your conversations and logs are also stored on our own server, keyed only to a random device ID — never your name. The notes Rowan keeps about you are stored only on your phone — but your phone sends them along with each message, so they reach the AI provider too. Full details, including how long each thing is kept, are in the privacy policy.
Is Rowan HIPAA-compliant?
No — and any app that tells you it is should be treated with suspicion. HIPAA applies to healthcare providers, health plans, and their business associates. Rowan is a consumer wellness app, not a covered entity, so HIPAA simply doesn't apply to it. What we can tell you is what we actually do: no account, no ads, no analytics on your health content, encryption in transit, defined retention windows, and a delete that really deletes.
Does it read my Apple Health data?
No. Everything Rowan knows is something you told it, in your own words — there's no passive tracking and no device to pair.
What does it cost?
Tracking your conditions and medications, logging how a day went, your trends, the visit brief, and reminders are all part of Rowan at no cost. Conversation on the free plan is capped at 5 messages a day. There is one optional subscription, Rowan Plus, which lifts that cap and answers with a more capable model — the price and renewal terms are shown in the App Store before you buy, and billing is handled by Apple. Safety and emergency features are never behind a payment.
When can I use it?
Now — Rowan is on the App Store for iPhone, running iOS 16.2 or later. Android isn't committed.
Who is Rowan for?
Adults 18 and over who are managing one or more diagnosed chronic conditions — migraine, thyroid disease, POTS, IBD and the like — and are tired of rebuilding their own history before every appointment.
Stop starting from scratch at every appointment.
