A character forgot something important

Open You → What they remember about you, or the memory control beside a character's name. Search saved facts, filter by category or pins, and use Show more memories to browse the rest. Add a fact yourself, or edit one that is wrong. Your edits and pins are protected from automatic changes.

Saved facts are shared across your kin in this library. They do not expire, and reaching 50 facts does not stop learning or require Plus. Each reply uses a selection relevant to what you are saying, plus your pins; saved storage is not a promise of perfect recall. You can pin up to 20 important facts.

Both plans have a generous safety limit of 10,000 active saved facts. If you reach it, the app pauses new additions and tells you. Existing facts stay; nothing is automatically pruned. You can still edit or forget facts, or contact support. Forgetting removes a saved fact from memory; delete the original conversation separately if you also want its transcript removed.

How do I illustrate a story chapter?

Open a completed chapter and choose Illustrate this chapter. Before it starts, you will see whether it uses one included painting or one Spark, and choose whether to proceed. The confirmation also asks permission to send OpenAI a short AI-written excerpt from that chapter and the kin's portrait as a visual reference. The character's appearance description helps guide the painting too. Your own chat messages, saved-memory library and About you profile are not directly included in this image request. You can keep reading while it finishes.

Some older chapters do not contain a saved character reference and cannot be illustrated. Generating a new chapter records the reference it needs.

A character said something it should not have

Report it from the message itself — every reply carries a small ⚑ beside it; tap that. Reports are reviewed and characters can be removed. If a character claimed to be a human being, a therapist, or a doctor, please report that specifically; it is a bug and we want to fix it.

Someone published a character that breaks the rules

Report the character from its page, and block the creator if you would rather not see anything else they make. Blocking removes all of their characters from your feed immediately.

How do I cancel Mythkin Plus?

If you subscribe in the iPhone app, the subscription is billed by Apple, so it is cancelled there, not by us. On iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Mythkin → Cancel. Refunds are handled by the store under its own policy.

What are Sparks, and where do I buy them?

Sparks are optional one-off packs of painting credits. Open You → Mythkin Plus and scroll to Sparks, or open the Sparks row in Settings, data & safety. You can buy 10 or 30 Sparks at the localized price shown by the App Store before you confirm. A Plus subscription is not required.

One Spark pays for one AI painting of a chat moment or saved story chapter. The paintings already included with your plan are used first. Sparks do not expire, and they do not buy messages or memory. The app asks before spending a Spark. Story covers use the included painting allowance and do not automatically spend purchased Sparks. A Spark is returned if its painting fails.

Sparks are consumables, so there is no subscription to cancel and Restore Purchases does not restore a finished Spark purchase. Purchased credits are linked to the library that received them. After reinstalling or changing devices, earlier credits may be kept separately from the balance shown in your new library. Buying another pack does not unlock those earlier credits. I hit my message limit

The free tier gives you a set number of messages in a rolling window; the app shows exactly how many and when it resets. Mythkin Plus raises the limit a long way — a few hundred replies a day rather than a few dozen in a few hours — but it is still a ceiling, not an unlimited plan. Conversations about self-harm skip the limit for the first several turns in a window, and you are never shown a payment prompt on one of those turns even after that; see Safety for exactly how that works.

How do I get my data, or delete everything?

Settings → Your data → Export everything downloads what we hold. Settings → Your data → Delete everything removes your characters, conversations and memories from our servers. Both work without contacting us. A short list of what a full delete keeps — crisis referral counts, open reports, and any unspent purchased Spark balance — and why, is in Privacy.

Can I make a character of a real person?

Yourself, yes — and someone you know who has agreed to it, or someone who has died. You can paint one from up to three photographs, taken with the camera or chosen from your library. The rule for everyone else is a date: anyone who died before 1950 is fine — that is most of the catalogue — and anyone still living, or who died in 1950 or later, is refused, because the estate and the right of publicity outlive the person. If a living person has not agreed, don't; if they ask you to remove the kin, you must. See Terms. Mythology, folklore and public-domain literature are fine, and there are a lot of them.

Will the painting actually look like them?

It will resemble them; it is not a photograph turned into a portrait. The painter reads your photographs for build, colouring, hair and bearing, but it is not a likeness engine, and faces come back inspired by the person rather than exact. Two or three clear, well-lit shots where the face is large in the frame get closer than a distant or half-covered one.

What happens to a photo I send?

A photo you use to make a kin is deleted the moment the painting is finished, and that kin stays in your library — it cannot be shared or borrowed. A photo you send in a chat is forwarded to the AI so the character can answer it, and is not kept afterwards. Location and camera details are stripped from both before anything leaves your phone. Will there be adult content?
